Arlington Heights School District 25 is moving ahead with plans to soon bring full-day kindergarten to the district after two more building additions were approved by the Village Board.
Plans for new classrooms at both Olive-Mary Stitt and Patton elementary schools, along with variations in parking and landscaping, were both approved on a 6-0 vote by the board at the Feb. 21 Village Board meeting. Trustees Tom Schwingbeck, Mary Beth Canty and Richard Baldino were absent from the meeting.
Earlier this month, trustees also approved expansion plans at both Dryden and Westgate schools. Construction is expected to begin this year.
Last June, residents approved a ballot referendum allowing the school district to sell up to $75 million in bonds to help pay for the building additions and other district capital improvements. The nine-school SD25 is adding classrooms to five of the elementary schools to accommodate the introduction of full-day kindergarten in the district starting the 2024-2025 school year.
